StoreGrid Backup

Just wanted to share what have taken the most part of my life for the past 1 year - Vembu StoreGrid

StoreGrid is a unique product, it's a Peer to Peer backup software. To simply say we upload/backup one file from a client to a server.

Basically, client requests a server, can I backup and ends up sending the files configured for backup to the server (if the server accepts the request of course).

As a server I mean just any other ordinary system at the corner of your office running Windows/Linux/Mac OS with some disk space left unused.

OK, that was the basics.

The latest release of the software, with which I have been really working hard for the past year on, is much more than that.

Client Features like,

1. Powerful Compression (ZLib) & Encryption (Blowfish upto 448 bit keys).
2. Intelli-delta [Finding just the file changes and uploading only the necessary bytes].
3. SQL/Exchange/MySQL server backup.
4. Out-of-the-box Outlook/My Documents/IE/etc., backup.
5. Automated Backup scheduling.
6. Point-In-Time restores.
7. Granular upto single file restores, etc.,

Server Features like,

1. Storage to external Harddrives/NAS storage etc.,
2. Powerful Customer/Client management with complete Disk Quota control.
3. Activation/DeActivation, Authorized access to server, etc.,

Common features like,

1. Usable web interface, can access and modify any kind of feature from remote.
2. Email notifications on issues.

All the above said features have just added up StoreGrid Service Provider Edition as one of the most powerful Online Backup solutions [Remote/Offsite backup] offered by Service Providers the world over.

Moreover the Free Edition/Professional Edition catering to SOHOs and large enterprises is also making the mark.

Getting to the list of 200 Finalists of the RedHerring Top 100 Startups in Asia has also provided the much needed attention for StoreGrid.

Let us wait and see, how the future features [planned in StoreGrid] pans out my future in the recent times.
